A truly marvellous spectacle today for the supporters of England and Scotland. The Angels have come across many obstacles during their existence, but they never cease to amaze me.
The games against Scotland are always hard fought and evenly balanced but being 4-2 down at half time it was hard to see them come back.
However, we firmly believe that there is always hope even when the odds are stacked against you. And so it came to pass.
Goals from Kieran Wells x3 Nathaniel Kelly x 2 and a late Anthony Shannon effort saw the Angels steal an unlikely 6-4 victory in such dramatic style.
Huge credit must go to the ultra talented Scotland team who incredibly travelled down on the day and still put on an amazing performance with speed and skill.
More importantly the charity element of these games is what it’s about and I’m stunned but delighted to stated that we have surpassed our target of 8k and actually now hit the 12k mark meaning Duchenne UK, Rainbows Hospice and When You Wish Upon a Star will share the spoils to the tune of 4K each. A remarkable sum given the fact that it’s come from two games of football.
I’d like to thank everyone who’s donated played and supported us there’s too many mention.
On a final note if ever you feel overwhelmed or feel like there’s no hope. Please “Never Give Up and Never Give in” that was the theme in the dressing room at half time.
